Identify which direction is affected

Not hearing the other participant and them not hearing you involve different settings. First confirm that the meeting app works by itself, then check the listening mode, audio source and microphone. Change one setting at a time so you can tell what resolves the issue.

You cannot hear the original meeting audio

Stop Linggua’s translation connection and run the meeting app’s speaker test. If it is still silent, check the meeting volume and playback device first.

  • Choose physical headphones or speakers as the meeting output, not Bridge Virtual Mic.
  • Choose Original voice + captions or Original voice only to hear the original audio. Translated voice + captions mutes it.
  • If audio disappears only while you speak, check whether the silence-while-speaking option is enabled.

Original audio works, but translated captions are missing

Confirm that someone is speaking and that Original voice + captions or Translated voice + captions is selected. Original voice only does not generate new incoming captions.

  • Check the selected audio source. For a browser meeting, choose the browser hosting the call.
  • Check macOS system audio recording permission. Microphone permission alone does not grant system audio access.
  • Check the client for translation connection errors and reconnect after addressing them.
  • After changing devices or permissions, reconnect and ask the other participant to say a sentence.

Other participants cannot hear your translation

Set the meeting microphone to Bridge Virtual Mic and check the microphone controls in both apps. Linggua starts muted; select Translate before speaking.

  • In Linggua, choose your physical microphone and allow microphone access in macOS.
  • Switch to Original voice and ask the other participant to confirm they can hear you. Then switch to Translate and test again.
  • If neither works, check input devices, permissions and mute controls first. If only translation is missing, check the languages and translation connection messages.

The app is waiting for meeting audio

Join the meeting or run the speaker test in the selected app so it starts playing audio. Confirm the correct audio source is selected. If the meeting already has audio, retry the connection as prompted.

Audio stops after changing a headset or playback device

Select the connected physical headset or speakers in the meeting app. Stop and reconnect as prompted by Linggua, then check the microphone mode again. Do not select a virtual or aggregate device for meeting playback.

Participants hear an echo

Try headphones first to reduce speaker audio being picked up by the microphone. If the client asks to sync sound settings, check that the displayed devices are the ones you intend to use before applying the change.
